What is the difference between permanent anti-static and non permanent anti-static?

The principle of static electricity generation is believed to be guided by many people. Different materials rub against each other to generate charge transfer, and the charge accumulates on the surface of non-conductive objects, which is static electricity. Static electricity not only adsorbs dust and reaches a certain value, but may also damage precision equipment. Therefore, many plastic parts require anti-static properties.

1. According to different usage methods, anti-static agents can be divided into two types: external coating type and internal mixing type. External anti-static agents generally have a quick effect, but their effectiveness is short-lived. The plastic material used is an internally mixed anti-static agent.

2. According to the length of time, it is divided into temporary and permanent types; Or it can be divided into two categories based on molecular size: small molecules and high molecules. The working principle of small molecule anti-static agents is that the anti-static agent molecules precipitate on the surface of the product, absorb moisture in the air to form a water film, and achieve anti-static effect. This type of material is highly sensitive to moisture, and its anti-static effect tends to weaken or even disappear below 50% humidity, with a relatively short shelf life.

Polymer anti-static agents and base materials form a network structure, relying on the ionic groups on the molecular chains to conduct and dissipate static electricity. Due to its working principle being independent of air humidity, this type of material has good stability in anti-static effect and a relatively long aging time, and is also known as a permanent anti-static agent.

The most commonly used anti-static agent is conductive carbon black. Conductive carbon black itself has conductive properties and can form a three-dimensional network structure of conductive pathways in plastic, giving the plastic conductive function and preventing classic accumulation, effectively increasing the product's performance and range of use. So the anti-static products we commonly use are all black.
